The flower that walks

This might turn into orchid week here, so be warned…

😉

Mostly I prefer simple common flowers, but orchids and their variety of forms can’t be denied.

Look at those sweetly twisted sepals!

I geeked out for a moment there. Sorry.

So… flower fanciers, which do you prefer: the pink or the yellow?

I really, really like the yellow.

  1. Yellow for me too! My folks have a patch of yellows that reside in a shady patch near their camp on Lake Champlain. Slippers were rescued from a site about to undergo construction, carefully nurtured along and apparently they decided the spot offered them to grow was just right.
They are always a treat to find in the woods, regardless of the color!

  2. I have never seen a yellow lady slipper, although they are listed in my guide for Maine.

Strange though, I usually see 20 or down in the woods. This year there were hundreds.
