Flock movements

Okay girls… where are we going next? It’s been a month or so since Susan last tried to tempt us to Ohio and Magee Marsh (which sounds pretty neat), but that second weekend in May is something of a sticking point for any of us in NJ as it’s World Series weekend.

Lynne is still quietly floating the idea of the flock visiting frozen Minnesota and Sax Zim Bog (which sounds really, really neat – Great Grey Owls!), but the frozen part is a little scary.

Mary in North Carolina? Delia in Pa.? Susan at Lake Life in North Carolina or is it Florida now? Pam in New York? Want to tempt us your way? Anyone else have ideas?

  1. I’m not one of the girls, but I would suggest Alaska. Great Gray Owls, Snowy Owls, more Bald Eagles than you ever see anywhere’s else, glaciers, moose, bears and for what better reason, I’m here. 🙂

  2. Oh come on, Dave! You ARE one of the girls!
Alaska sounds great. Except for the bears. But can any of us afford to go all the way to Alaska?
Maybe Trixie can set us all up with room and board.
    : )
I’m still going to Magee Marsh in May. I would love company.
But Minnesota is tempting with all the great grays….and Lynne.

  3. After reading your post yesterday. No wonder you are a birder. It’s nice to get outside where things are simple and makes more sense.
To be able to let the wind clarify things.

  4. Laura, it’s funny that you posted that beach photo – I was just looking at one that I took of Susan (getting native) dipping her toes in the cold Atlantic water.
Like Mary, I think I’ll do my thinking after Christmas. I’m quite sure I won’t make it to Alaska, though!

  5. And I’ve really been admiring your photos! If you don’t mind giving away your secret, what photo software do you use & how do you get that soft effect?

  6. Oh gosh, I would LOVE to go to Alaska, but that’ll only happen when I’ve struck it rich somehow.

Meanwhile, I’m IN for the Magee Marsh trip. Maybe we could also do a NJ weekend sometime when it’s WARM there….

  7. Dave: You’re a hoot! I would love to see Alaska and your rehab place – moose and you, too? – maybe I can talk the others into it?

Susan: But it will be really cold!

  8. Oh Laura, Come to MN in FEB…..I’m not quite as tall as you, but I think I have enough wool socks, sweaters, hats & mittens not to mention a couple pairs of insulated bib pants to keep you warm (enough for Susan too!)
