the thin sunlight that goes deep in the bones.<\/i><\/div>\n
Praise the crows chattering in the oak trees;<\/i><\/div>\n
though they are clothed in night, they do not despair. <\/i><\/div>\n
Praise what little there’s left:<\/i><\/div>\n
the small boats of milkweed pods, husks, hulls,<\/i><\/div>\n
shells, the architecture of trees. <\/i><\/div>\n
Praise the meadow of dried weeds: <\/i><\/div>\n
yarrow, goldenrod, chicory,<\/i><\/div>\n
the remains of summer. <\/i><\/div>\n
Praise the blue sky that hasn’t cracked. <\/i><\/div>\n
Praise the sun slipping down behind the beechnuts, <\/i><\/div>\n
praise the quilt of leaves that covers the grass: <\/i><\/div>\n
Scarlet Oak, Sweet Gum, Sugar Maple. <\/i><\/div>\n
Though darkness gathers, <\/i><\/div>\n
praise our crazy fallen world; <\/i><\/div>\n
it’s all we have, and it’s never enough.”<\/i><\/div>\n
