A couple times MevetS<\/a> walked away<\/div>\n
left me to *guard* his camera<\/div>\n
let me click the shutter<\/div>\n

maybe feel like *one of them*<\/div>\n
the people with proper camera equipment<\/div>\n
gathered there like paparazzi<\/div>\n
(this is only a portion of their number)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I like crooked horizons, btw<\/div>\n
so there!<\/div>\n
Distorted like the sight of tens of eagles<\/div>\n
(closer to hundreds, almost)<\/div>\n
soaring over abandoned car parts<\/div>\n
and bits of garbage washed ashore<\/div>\n
at the foot of a dam<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
fishing among fishermen<\/div>\n
and stray cats<\/div>\n
scavenging for prey<\/div>\n
looking for life to take<\/div>\n
and unequivocally overlooking us<\/div>\n
to their honor<\/div>\n

I mean to make some point, but don’t have the patience with myself tonight to actually get there.<\/p>\n

I’m pretty convinced the Conowingo Dam in Maryland is THE place to go on the East Coast to see bald eagles in winter. <\/p>\n

It’s spectacular!  Go there!<\/p>\n

(bring your long lens, though)<\/p>\n

I’ve never seen so many eagles at one time, in so many plumages… juvenile eagles are gorgeous!<\/p>\n

The setting doesn’t befit them, but still it manages to be memorable and goosebump-making.<\/p>\n

I’ll remember the people there with me and the sound of their cameras (hundreds of shutters clicking at once like the sound I imagine on the red carpet at a movie premiere) and feeling very, very lucky to have the chance to witness such a thing.<\/p>\n
