{"id":265,"date":"2010-06-30T00:10:00","date_gmt":"2010-06-30T00:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.somewhereinnj.com\/?p=265"},"modified":"2016-02-10T20:13:55","modified_gmt":"2016-02-11T01:13:55","slug":"4-redo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.somewhereinnj.com\/?p=265","title":{"rendered":"4 (redo)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>It&#8217;s a poor sort of memory that only works backwards.<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">~Lewis Carroll, <i>Alice in Wonderland<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.somewhereinnj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/IMG_3530.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488333650849040082\" style=\"display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: hand; width: 400px; height: 267px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.somewhereinnj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/IMG_3530-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>So earlier this evening I sat on my little patio wiggling my freshly-painted toes in a roasting pan filled with sand and seashells and water from the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n<p>I smiled and giggled and hoped my neighbors couldn&#8217;t see what I was doing.<\/p>\n<p>The sand and seawater and roasting pan were presented to me a while back in a cardboard box with instructions on how to affect the above photo.<\/p>\n<p>The seashells were mine, collected on a trip last year along <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somewhereinnj.com\/?p=394\">my familiar eastern coast<\/a>, but added for the sake of realism.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><i>Can anyone, by the way, explain to me why NJ beaches are devoid of proper seashells?<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Anyway so&#8230; it&#8217;s not exactly what I had in mind for #4, but it&#8217;ll do for now and I learned a couple things:<\/p>\n<p>sand from that other coast is very pebbly and must feel nice underfoot<\/p>\n<p>the sea is just as salty-tasting on the other side of the country<\/p>\n<p><i>of course I tasted it!<\/i><\/p>\n<p>(that wasn&#8217;t in the instructions, tho)<\/p>\n<p>it&#8217;s good to have <a href=\"http:\/\/recycledphotons.blogspot.com\/\">friends<\/a> who travel to far-flung places and are as nutty as you<\/p>\n<p>(or maybe more so)<\/p>\n<p>if you&#8217;re going to do anything as silly as this, it&#8217;s best to save it for that moment when the mood strikes you at the end of a very long Terrible Tuesday when you&#8217;re sick of being the mean-social-worker-lady.<\/p>\n<p>(silliness is an excellent challenge to meanness)<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.somewhereinnj.com\/?p=321\">Another attempt<\/a> at 4 in last year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somewhereinnj.com\/?p=359\">39 by 40<\/a>.
