Finally a fix!

Boomer and I have a mutually agreeable arrangement on chilly evenings; he keeps my lap warm and I massage his ears and neck until he reaches something like bunny nirvana and rolls softly aside onto the carpet. Then I can go back to whatever it was that I was trying to do with him stretched out beside me. Boomer is a big boy and takes up all of my lap and stretches almost to my ankles if the massage is good. Sometimes if we’re in a groove, I’ll look up to notice that my feet and his ears are pointing in the same direction.

I’m missing the days when I could let the bunnies roam around the house for play. Buddy was mostly scared of getting in trouble for being too near to them; little Luka is all mouth and danger to a bunny. So the bunnies have been kept in their separate room and I haven’t had much chance to take pics of them; hence the lack of mid-week bunny fixes lately. Finding the time to exercise a pup is challenging; finding time to exercise 5 rabbits also is impossible! Boomer and Sunshine get lots of time out (though they hardly exercise – the big lugs!) – it’s the little bunnies here that aren’t getting the attention lately that they’re used to.

  1. Can you let the bunnies run free in the room?
A new development is our city has chased the wild bunnies down to a main road – they feed on the lush grasses. Coyotes have been coming to town to prey on the bunnies. One coyote was hit by a car this week – I haven’t heard of any bunny fatalities.

  2. Monarch: I’ve missed them, too.

    Susan: Yeah, he’s a love.

Jean: The big bunnies do *run* free (!) but they don’t get along with the little ones so everybunny has to be out at different times.

Wild bunnies are food for everyone; I’m sure you just don’t see it often. Shame about the coyote being hit.

Bunnygirl: Please send along our apologies….

rcwbiologist: Yeah, they’re fun to have around, usually! Plus they make good lap warmers.

Dave: Ha! I almost didn’t recognize you with that new pic. Nice. I like to tease Boomer with, “How many channels you getting there big guy?” but he doesn’t seem to appreciate the humor.

    😉

  3. Awwww . . . Wish I had a lap warmer as sweet as Boomer. Today it’s spitting snow in Ohio. My computer is my lap warmer. It’s a poor substitute for a bunny :0(

  4. Oh goody a bunny update. I love Luka updates too, but have been wondering about the bunnies.
Nice to know you and they are warm, snuggly and safe.

  5. I know you are very tall, so Boomer must be an oversized bunneh. You have your hands full, Laura :o)

Your photos in b/w are grand! Let’s see more mid-week Luka and Bunny fixes!

  6. Cathy: Snow, already? Lucky you! Actually, I have a few lap warmers to spare; one with bony elbows, maybe you’d like to borrow him?

KGMom: I’ll try to keep up better with them.

Mary: Ha! Yeah, my hands are full; all my height is in my legs, so yeah, he’s a long bunneh.

Diva Kitty: That is the best spot!

Susan and Mary: Enough with the both of you!

    😉

  7. Oh, I wish Niblet was a lap bunny, but he just refuses. If I’m lying on the floor, he might nuzzle up to me, but that’s it. Now, Kat seems to have some sort of “way” with him, as every time she lies on the couch, he jumps up on her belly and starts licking her shirt. He doesn’t do that to me, his mether, though! I sure wish he would (well, not the licking part).

  8. Susan: Yes, I’m sure he weighs at least twice as much as your little dogs.

Delia: Most of my buns are that way – and Boomer has his moods too – but mostly he’s a lover.
