Sundog

There’s an old folk belief
that demands a sudden gift upon spotting a
sundog
and one that says it brings good luck on a long journey;
I have only words to toss into the chilly air of a November sunset
and this thought of you that stays
long after the turkey vulture, like a plane, disappears from sight.

  1. Cool photo! sundogs are difficult to get a good photo of, I think. Often times they disappear before I can get the camera out of my pack or handbag or whatever.

  2. Great shot. Down on the Oregon coast, at sunset, all beach walkers stop and watch the last few minutes. Once in a great while is a magic “green-flash” as the sun disappears … possibly the same phenomenon ..

  3. How did I miss this post 5 days ago? Beautiful sundog! I’ve tried to photograph them a couple of times, but they usually come out very pale. This one is wonderful.
