Old dogs and watermelon wine

Nothing is ever really lost, or can be lost,
No birth, identity, form – no object of the world,
Not life, nor force, nor any visible thing;
Appearance must not foil, nor shifted sphere confuse thy brain.
Ample are time and space – ample the fields of Nature.

–Walt Whitman

I’m not sure how many of you read Dave of BirdTLC’s other blog, Around Anchorage, but please stop in with him.

  1. Whitman was influenced by eastern philosophy. I can see that influence in the “nothing is ever really lost” statement. And I agree with the sentiment.
