I hate HTML code!

**Begin rant**
I’ve spent the last few hours playing around with my blogger template just so I could add “What I’m Reading” to the sidebar. You’d think it would be simple, even for someone like me who is clueless with code. But no, copying and pasting just isn’t enough. You actually need to know what all that gobblygook means! I’ve had enough for one night. I would like to add the other books I’m reading, but can’t figure out how to do it – I’m defeated.

  1. If your blog is like mine, i.e. template copied from Blogger, it may not be all in HTML code. I have been trying to play around with my side bar too with little results until yesterday when I had a bit of a breakthrough…I think. It appears that my blog is mostly CSS code. I tried to look at your code but it appears to be unavailable to me except that when I looked at the Privacy View I noticed some CSS notes.

Have a look at this site:
    http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp

I’ve not had time to do much yet but it looks like the answer to figuring out the my Blog code.

    Good luck!

  2. Thanks for the link, OW, and the wish for luck – I’ll need it!

Just to show how completely ignorant I am – what is CSS code? Guess I better spend some time at the link you provided. 😉

My template is copied from Blogger – what had me pulling my hair out last night was that any change I made seemed to throw off the indent of the rest of the sidebar. Guess I’m just anal, but I like things to line up proper and be symetrical! I couldn’t make that happen when adding more than one book to my current reading list. Very frustrating until I finally gave up and went to bed.

    Thanks for visitng me here.

  3. Ah, I am way ahead of you. I have been studying CSS since the day before yesterday! It appears that we have the same problem. I too wanted the extra stuff I was putting into the sidebar to be lined up and centred. If you look, you will see that I have not solved the problem yet but am beginning to get a bit of a feeling for CSS. OK, a very tiny bit. We’ll see how long it takes.

  4. Ahem ! I guess you forgot that your big brother (no pun intended) does this HTML crap for a living. Give me a shout. I might be able to help you. HTML is pretty easy but CSS needs a bit of explaination. PS – the blog is awesome ! Great pic of you by the way.
